While highlighting that things have evolved rapidly in terms of AI, Bikchandani mentioned that almost every start-up in the country has an element of AI in it
As the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) increases in India, people will lose their jobs. While new jobs will be created by AI, those who lose the jobs will not be the same ones who are getting it, said Sanjeev Bikchandani, co-founder, Info Edge. His comments are at a time when industry leaders have expressed diverse views about AI replacing jobs.
For instance, TCS CEO K Krithivasan highlighted last year that call center jobs are at risk with the advancement of AI. While, Yezdi Nagporewalla, CEO of KPMG India highlighted that AI will enhance and not replace jobs.
While highlighting that things have evolved rapidly in terms of AI, Bikchandani mentioned that almost every start-up in the country has an element of AI in it.
Giving an example of his own company, he highlighted that one of the services that the company offers is to assist people in writing their resumes.
"We had around 100 people in the company doing it and 180 freelancers. We stopped giving work to those freelancers due to AI," said Bikchandani.
He also highlighted that they have invested in AI start-ups that are working on mock call centers. For instance, a start-up they invested in named Gnan AI is using AI to focus on giving financial advice to Banks, something that might have been done by 10,000 people.
Bikchandani was speaking at the IPCIDE Annual Conference on the State of India's Digital Economy (SIDE) 2025 that was held on February 28 in New Delhi.
