Bengaluru-based Indian start-up Topmate recently claimed to "deliver humans" in just ten minutes. Nimisha Chanda, Marketing Lead at Topmate, challenged quick commerce start-ups like Blinkit, Zepto, and Instamart in an X post stating, “We’re not just delivering groceries in 10 minutes—we’re delivering humans.”

Topmate.io is a start-up that connects users with experts across various domains who can answer their questions, provide career guidance, and help them achieve their goals, all in real-time. Customers can get answers to their questions or assistance in landing their dream jobs in just 10 minutes by directly calling industry experts between 6 and 10 pm every day, according to the start-up. More than a million users have already trusted Topmate.io, which connects them to a network of 300,000 creators and experts.

In her post, Chanda stated that customers no longer need to rely on guesswork or endless Google searches, as they now have instant access to experts who are knowledgeable in the specific field the customer has inquired about.

Social Media Buzz

Netizens had mixed reactions to Topmate’s value proposition. Some were excited about the idea of having an expert readily available to answer their questions, while others questioned the credibility of these experts. One user commented on Chanda’s post, saying, “Current LLMs can be much more efficient and honest than humans…” to which she replied, “Try them once and then tell me.”

Another user inquired about the diversity of expertise available on the platform, asking, “Do you cater to just the run-of-the-mill IT crowd, or do you have specialized experts too, like designers and architects?” Chanda clarified, “We have everyone around. You can also find parenting coaches and makeup artists on Topmate.”

"It seems like someone is right across the table to talk! Interesting thought," one user said, while another wrote, "Interesting. However, when it comes to opinions, people first look for free ones—unlike products."

However, some users pointed out the statement on Topmate’s homepage that reads, “Get a referral in top companies.” They questioned the startup’s model, arguing that this is not how referrals work. Some also noted that companies would likely disapprove of individuals paying for referrals from people they haven’t worked with.
