Zomato has come up with a new app called Bistro for 10-minute food delivery. As of now, the service will be available in select localities of Gurugram.
The app will provide meals, snacks, beverages, and other items in ten minutes. This comes at a time when the concept of 10-minute food delivery is getting traction in the country. Quick commerce platform Zepto also launched a separate app for its 10-minute food delivery segment.
Taking to social media platform X, Zepto CEO Aadit Palicha wrote, “We're launching a separate app for Zepto Cafe next week! The team is shipping an MVP and iterating quickly, so it may not be perfect on Day 1, but it's worth it to launch fast.”
Palicha further highlighted that the cafe has been growing at a rapid scale, and they are clocking 30,000 orders per day. While the company has offered a separate app, customers will still be able to order food from the main app. “You will still be able to order Café from the main Zepto app as well,” added Palicha.
Speaking about the importance of 10-minute food delivery, Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal told Moneycontrol earlier,10-minute food can change the game if we get it right. I don't know who gets it right first, but if anybody gets it right first, we'll also be able to get it right.”
Zomato came up with 10-minute food delivery earlier as well in 2022 through Zomato Instant. Post this, the company changed the brand name from Instant to Everyday. Zomato Everyday offers homemade meals with a shorter duration for arrival.
Another Bengaluru-based food delivery start-up that focuses on 10-minute food delivery is Swiggy. Speaking about the company to Outlook Business earlier, Swish co-founder Aniket Shah said, “We are currently living in a few areas in Bangalore and plan to expand to four more areas by the end of this month. We aim to have around 150 "Delight Centers" (our version of cloud kitchens) by the end of March 2025.”
Speaking about the logistics behind 10-minute food delivery, Shah said earlier that they focus on cloud kitchens. Further, the entire process from food preparation, packaging, delivery, and order assignment is taken care of by the company.
Swiggy has also joined the race with the launch of Bolt, which focuses on food delivery in ten minutes. Speaking about the launch in a statement, Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy’s Food Marketplace, said, “Ten years ago, Swiggy revolutionized food delivery by cutting average wait times to 30 minutes. Now, we’re reducing that wait even further for frequently ordered items like coffee, burgers, ice cream, and biryani, partnering with trusted restaurants to deliver the best food in just 10 minutes.” The service is now present in several states, including Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Chennai, and Bangalore.
