Shah Rukh Khan, Thalapathy Vijay Lead 2024’s Taxpayer Celebrities

India is a country where celebrities are not merely seen as heroes on the screen but also in viewers' lives. As heroes are supposed to take care of their people and fight for their countries - whether it is about Shah Rukh Khan saving India from Pakistani spies or Virat Kohli breaking the record for most runs in a single World Cup edition - real ones also need to fulfill their duties as tax-paying citizens of this country for nation-building.

In September, Fortune India published a list of Indian celebrities who paid the highest taxes in the fiscal year 2023-24, a list largely dominated by stars from the film and sports industries.

There is no need to make a wild guess about who most likely topped this highest taxpayers list for FY24. With three back-to-back blockbusters—"Pathaan", "Jawan", and the much-anticipated "Dunki"—there could only be one reigning champion.

Dunki star Shah Rukh Khan has topped the list by paying an astounding Rs 92 crore in taxes. SKR's comeback movie Pathaan, released in January 2023, grossed over Rs 1000 crore worldwide. His second release of the year Jawaan exceeded the previous expectations to reach Rs 1100 crore mark. However, his last film Dunki could not perform on the same level as the previous two films, but it still managed to earn Rs 400 crore. Following the blockbuster year SRK was crowned as the highest paid actor in 2023.

Other Highest Tax-payers of The Year

Tamil superstar Vijay, popularly known as Thalapathy, ranked next in the list with a tax amount of Rs 80 crore. His 2023 movie "Leo" grossed over Rs 600 crore at the box office.

Next in line is Salman Khan, who secured the spot with an impressive Rs 75 crore in tax payments. His movie "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan" grossed over Rs 180 crore at the box office. The actor also hosts a popular reality show on television.

Other taxpayers include Amitabh Bachchan at Rs 71 crore and Virat Kohli at Rs 66 crore. Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar paid a tax of Rs 28 crore in FY24 holding the 9th rank.

Among the female actors, Kareena Kapoor paid the highest number of taxes with Rs 20 crore followed by Kiara Advani and Katrina Kaif who paid Rs 12 crore and Rs 11 crore respectively in tax.
