Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured an ultra-mega contract worth more than ₹15,000 crore to develop gas compression facilities and associated infrastructure for a West Asian client, reports said.
The company received the project through a letter of award during FY26. L&T has not disclosed the exact contract value or the identity of the client. However, MEED reported that the project is linked to Saudi Aramco’s Jafurah unconventional gas development.
L&T classifies orders exceeding ₹15,000 crore as ultra-mega projects.
L&T shares were trading at ₹4,100 apiece on the BSE at 9:55 am on Monday, August 24, 2026, following the announcement.
Gas Processing And Compression Infrastructure
The project will be executed by L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore (LTEH Onshore) through an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract.
The scope involves developing onshore facilities for processing sour gas, including gas inlet infrastructure, compression systems and facilities for handling condensate and produced water.
The project will also include propane refrigeration systems and associated utilities required for the gas-processing operations.

Alongside the hydrocarbon infrastructure, L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution business will build two 230 kV extra-high-voltage substations. These facilities will provide the electricity required to operate the gas compression plants.
The project therefore brings together L&T’s hydrocarbon EPC and power transmission capabilities within a single development.
L&T Expands West Asia Hydrocarbon Footprint
E S Sathyanarayanan, Senior Vice President of LTEH Onshore, said the contract would add significant gas compression capacity and utility infrastructure while drawing on L&T’s experience in executing complex hydrocarbon projects.
He said the project also reinforces the company’s capabilities in handling challenging sour gas applications.
LTEH Onshore is among L&T’s major EPC businesses and provides turnkey solutions across the upstream, midstream and downstream segments of the hydrocarbon industry.
Its project portfolio includes refinery expansions, petrochemical complexes, gas-processing plants, fertiliser facilities, LNG terminals and cross-country pipelines across multiple markets.
The latest contract strengthens L&T’s presence in the West Asian energy infrastructure market while adding another large-scale project to its international hydrocarbon EPC portfolio.
