India’s marine fish catch fell by 2% in 2024 to 3.47 million tonnes, with Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala recording the highest landings.
West coast states saw a decline in catches, while east coast states like Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha showed notable growth.
In Kerala, overall landings dipped 4% to 610,000 tonnes, but oil sardine landings rose 7.6%.
