Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said India is negotiating trade deals with the US, Oman, EU, Chile, Peru, New Zealand, and others, stressing that many nations are keen to engage with India.
On US tariffs, Goyal said there is no de-globalisation, only a restructuring of trade, and that India will continue to grow exports.
He emphasised India’s macroeconomic strengths with a 6.5% growth rate, 16% share in global growth, low inflation, and strong fundamentals.
Goyal said India finds “opportunities in crisis” and will emerge stronger, citing the Covid period as an example.
He dismissed concerns over the India-UK trade deal, including Scotch whiskey duties and procurement access.
He also criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s economic remarks and Opposition parties for disrupting Parliament, calling their narratives and election-rigging allegations “absurd.”
