As border tensions rise between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22, state-run Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) has urged people to avoid panic buying. The IOCL has assured the public that there is no shortage of fuel in the country.

"#IndianOil has ample fuel stocks across the country and our supply lines are operating smoothly. There is no need for panic buying--fuel and LPG is readily available at all our outlets," the company said in a social media post.

"Help us serve you better by staying calm and avoiding unnecessary rush. This will keep our supply lines running seamlessly and ensure uninterrupted fuel access for all," it added.

The statement came after several social media posts and videos showed long queues at petrol pumps, with people rushing to hoard fuel amid fears of a potential shortage. This panic buying was triggered by escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following India's launch of ‘Operation Sindoor’ in response to cross-border terrorism.

India-Pakistan Tension

The Defence Ministry informed that Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along the entire Western Border on the intervening night of 08 and 09 May 2025.

"Pak troops also resorted to numerous ceasefire violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The drone attacks were effectively repulsed and befitting reply was given to the CFVs.," the Ministry said in a statement.

Indian Army also reiterated to remain committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nation. "All nefarious designs will be responded with force," it said.

Earlier, the Indian armed forces confirmed that their actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted, it said. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution, said the ministry.
