What do Oscar winners get?
Oscar awards doesn’t just shine light on the cinematic achievements of the winners but also set the path for possible future success with worldwide recognition. Oscar winners get a gold-plated trophy, which reportedly costs $400. Although the trophy is more of a symbolic win, according to the Academy Awards guidelines, the winners can’t sell their trophy. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) had introduced a $1 rule in 1951 wherein the Oscar winners are barred from selling or transferring their trophies without first returning it back to the Academy for the sum of $1.
“Award winners shall not sell or otherwise dispose of the Oscar statuette, nor permit it to be sold or disposed of by operation of law, without first offering to sell it to the Academy for the sum of $1.00,” stated the Oscars award’s guidelines.
Although Oscar laureates don’t receive any prize money, the award gives a substantial increase in their paycheck for subsequent.
