Around 90% of traders whose cash-market turnover was below 10% of their F&O turnover were loss-makers in FY26.
Average losses fell from around ₹2.07 lakh for traders with very low cash-market participation to about ₹15,000 for those whose cash turnover exceeded F&O turnover by more than five times.
The number of investors trading exclusively in derivatives increased from fewer than 1 lakh before Covid-19 to 18.6 lakh in FY26, or 24% of the F&O trader base.
