Commodity prices in India are on fire for past few months. From fruits and vegetables to cement prices, there’s nothing that you would go to purchase and will come back happy. Real wages of people have come down drastically, pushing people in the low income groups in penury, while the middle class is cutting down its consumption of non-essential needs. Government data shows that retail prices grew by 6.95 per cent in March from 6.07 per cent in February, mainly on account of costlier food items. The inflation in the food basket was 7.68 per cent in March, up from 5.85 per cent in the preceding month.
