Suzlon Shares Rise 3% in Pre-Open Trade Ahead of Rs 1,295-Crore Promoter Block Deal

Shares of Suzlon Energy are expected to be in spotlight on June 9, today, ahead of a potential block deal. According to a CNBC-TV18 report, the company’s promoters Tanti Family & Trust is set to sell 20 crore shares of the company through the block deal. The stock already surged nearly 3% during the pre-open session today.

The promoters held 13.25% stake in the renewable energy solutions provider as of March 2025. Post-transaction, the stake is expected to come down to 11.8%. The floor price for the said large deal is pegged at Rs 64.75, which marks a 3% discount to Suzlon Energy's closing price on Friday, taking the total transaction value to Rs 1,295 crore. There will also be a lock-in period of 180 days after this deal.

The company’s shares ended slightly lower on Friday at Rs 66.71 apiece. At its Friday close, the stock was over more than 22% below its 52-week high level, while over 48% higher than its 52-week low level, which it touched in June last year. The shares have risen nearly 38% in the last one year and over 17% in the last one month. The stock has gained 7% in 2025 so far.

Suzlon Energy had reported a more than four-fold year-on-year spike in its net profit for the March quarter, reaching Rs 1,181 crore, up from Rs 254 crore in the year-ago quarter. While the spike can largely attributed to a deferred tax gain of Rs 601 crore, the company’s core operations also showed strong performance as its revenue from operations climbed 73% to Rs 3,774 crore.

The energy solutions provider recorded an expansion in its margins by an over 230 basis points on year to 17.94% for the quarter under review. Further, its order book stood at 5.6 gigawatts as of May, which is 3.6 times its FY25 volume. At the end of the March quarter, its volumes stood at 573 megawatts.
