Rekha Jhunjhunwala Slashes Star Health Stake To 3.04%; Promoter Holding Falls To Nil

Shares of Star Health and Allied Insurance Company slipped more than 1% on Friday after the company's June-quarter shareholding pattern showed ace investor Rekha Jhunjhunwala sharply reduced her stake during the quarter.

The stock fell in early trade and was trading around ₹576.85 on the NSE.

The latest shareholding data showed Rekha Jhunjhunwala's holding declined to 3.04% as of June 30, 2026, from 15.57% at the end of the March quarter, indicating the sale of nearly 7.38 crore shares during the period.

The filing also showed that the promoter holding under Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and Associates declined to nil by the end of the June quarter from 1.55% three months earlier.

The exact dates of the transactions and the prices at which the shares were sold were not disclosed. As companies continue filing their June-quarter shareholding data, further changes to the investor's listed equity portfolio cannot be ruled out.

Long-Term Holding Sees Major Reshuffle

The Jhunjhunwala family's association with Star Health predates the company's stock market debut.

According to the company's 2021 IPO red herring prospectus (RHP), the late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala held a 14.98% stake in the insurer before its listing.

The family's holdings have undergone multiple changes since then. Rekha Jhunjhunwala increased her personal stake from 3.04% in the September quarter of FY26 to 15.57% by the December quarter, before reducing it sharply during the June quarter of FY27.

As per the latest public disclosures, Rekha Jhunjhunwala holds investments in 26 listed companies with a combined portfolio value of more than ₹47,085.4 crore. Her portfolio includes companies such as Titan, Tata Motors, Metro Brands, Nazara Technologies, NCC, Canara Bank, Crisil, Federal Bank, Fortis Healthcare, Indian Hotels Company, Tata Communications and Wockhardt, among others.

Stock Still Up Sharply Over One Year

Despite Friday's decline, Star Health shares have staged a strong recovery over the past year.

After falling to a 52-week low of ₹416.05 in July 2025, the stock rallied nearly 50% to touch a 52-week high of ₹623.45 on July 14, 2026.

The stock has slipped around 2% over the past week and 0.5% over the last month. However, it remains up 11.5% over the past three months, 34.5% over six months and 33% over the last year.
