India's e-commerce sector recorded a 31% year-on-year growth in order volumes during the 2026 Independence Day sale period, according to data by e-commerce enablement platform Unicommerce.
The insights, derived from order items processed on the company's Uniware platform between August 6 and 14, also revealed a 30% jump in total sales value, or gross merchandise value (GMV), compared to the same period in 2025.
According to the report, the fashion and accessories segment captured the highest share of total order volumes, with apparel emerging as the leading category. This was closely followed by beauty, wellness, and personal care segment, where skincare and hygiene products dominated consumer interest.
While fashion remained the largest category by volume, the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) segment stood out as the fastest-growing category, clocking a nearly 100% year-on-year increase.
Within FMCG, healthy food products emerged as a significant trending subcategory. Unicommerce, which serves over 7,500 clients across India, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, counts major brands such as FabIndia, Lenskart, Timex, Mamaearth, and boAt among its customers.
Other notable clients include Sugar, Emami, Urban Company, Cello, Symphony, Healthkart, GNC, Portronics, TMRW, Mensa, and the Landmark Group.
