Axis Bank Q1 Net Profit Declines 4% to ₹5,806 Crore

Weaker treasury performance and higher provisions weigh on Q1 earnings despite stable core operations.

Axis Bank Q1 Profit Falls 4% to ₹5,806 Crore

Axis Bank on Thursday reported a 4% decline in net profit at ₹5,806 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2025, due to a marginal increase in bad loans.

The private sector bank had earned a standalone profit of ₹6,035 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.

The total income rose to ₹38,322 crore during the June quarter of 2025-26, from ₹35,844 crore in the same quarter of FY25, Axis Bank said in a regulatory filing.

Interest earned by the bank grew to ₹31,064 crore as compared to ₹30,061 crore in the June quarter of FY25.

During the period operating profit of the bank rose to ₹11,515 crore as compared to ₹10,106 crore in the same quarter a year ago.

The bank's asset quality showed deterioration as gross non-performing assets (NPAs) rose to 1.57% of gross advances at the end of the June quarter FY26 from 1.54% a year ago.

Similarly, net NPAs or bad loans also increased to 0.45% as against 0.34% in the year-ago period.

As a result, provision and contingencies for Q1FY26 rose to Rs 3,948 crore as compared to ₹2,039 crore in the same quarter a year ago.
