This Is The Right Time to Invest in Odisha, says Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated and addressed the 'Utkarsh Odisha' - Make in Odisha Conclave in Bhubaneshwar, being held from January 28 to 29. In his speech, the Prime Minister highlights the state's potential, claiming it to be the symbol of ‘India’s optimism and originality’.

Reiterating the words of state’s Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Modi said, “This is the right time to invest in Odisha,”. Modi assured investors that investing in the states will help them touch the epitome of business success and calls it “Modi ki Guarantee”.

Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Ashwini Vaishnaw were also present at the event. The government anticipates the investment attracted through the conclave to surpass Rs 5 lakh crore, with job creation projected to increase by 3.5 lakh.

“Odisha will reach that height of success, that nobody has even dreamt of,” added Modi. With massive investments for sectors in the state like fisheries, petrochemical, tourism, green energy, “Odisha is becoming one of the leading states (in terms of driving growth) in India,” said the Prime Minister.

In previous editions of the conclave, the Odisha government, under the leadership of then Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, garnered investment proposals amounting to Rs 2.03 lakh crore in 2016, Rs 4.19 lakh crore in 2018, and Rs 10.5 lakh crore in 2022.

However, the earlier administration faced substantial criticism for its inability to deliver on many of the high-profile projects that were signed off through MoUs.The current BJP-led government is keen to position itself as focused on attracting investment and committed to ensuring that these proposals are brought to fruition.

In addition to a series of MoUs set to be inked at the conclave, the state has unveiled several notable developments. Among these are a virtual ground-breaking ceremony for SiCSem Private Limited's compound semiconductor project, to be built on land allocated by the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, and the opening of the Silicon Carbide Research Innovation Centre (SiCRIC) at IIT Bhubaneswar.

Investors and delegates from nations such as Singapore, Australia, and Malaysia are expected to spearhead discussions, with delegations from countries including Vietnam, Zimbabwe, Kazakhstan, Venezuela, the UK, the US, and Nepal also playing an active role.
