Union Cabinet approved a six-year “Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses” with ₹11,440 crore outlay for 2025-26 to 2030-31.
The mission targets increasing pulses production from 242 lakh tonnes (2023-24) to 350 lakh tonnes by 2030-31.
Area under pulses cultivation will expand to 310 lakh hectares from 242 lakh hectares; yield targeted to rise from 881 kg/ha to 1,130 kg/ha.
Focus crops include tur, urad, and masur, with assured procurement under PM-AASHA Price Support Scheme by Nafed and NCCF for registered farmers.
