TCS Makes AI Central to Its Transformation to Drive Growth, Revamps Top Leadership

The employees must think of ways to utilise AI technologies to enhance efficiency and overall work experience, CEO and MD, TCS, K Krithivasan said

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is betting big on artificial intelligence (AI) to transform its work environment. Tata Group’s information technology (IT) services company on Wednesday announced significant leadership changes, including the appointment of key senior officials to steer the transformation. The giant appointed Janardhan Santhanam as the chief information officer (CIO) effective from July 1, 2025 and he will report to the chief operating officer (COO), Aarthi Subramanian. Santhanam has been associated with TCS for over 25 years, and his experience spans across technology, delivery, domain and talent development, the Business Standard reported.

“The AI-first transformation of TCS is as much about culture as it is about technology. This will require exceptional collaboration across functions and groups, and active participation from each one of you,” CEO and MD, TCS, K Krithivasan told employees in internal communication via email, the Business Standard reported.

He highlighted that the employees must think of ways to utilise AI technologies to enhance efficiency and overall work experience. The country’s largest information technology (IT) company has adopted the usage of AI-powered solutions like a Gen-AI-powered coach for interviews, an AI-assistant for employees' services, and AI-assistant for contract compliance, TCS CEO added.

“The opportunities to leverage AI to reimagine various aspects of our operations are immense. We must now look at how we can leverage AI technologies to achieve greater efficiency, improve employee experience, and enhance customer engagement. Our goal will be to make TCS the best showcase of what can be achieved with AI,” Krithivasan added in the email.

“This next phase of our collaboration with Microsoft spotlights the enduring role that AI and Cloud continue to play in driving business growth and transformation,” VP and Global Head, Cloud Unit at TCS, Krishna Mohan had said, according to the company’s website.

The IT major is set to declare its first quarter results for the financial year 2026 on July 10. The company posted revenue of ₹ 255,342 crore in FY25 and crossed the $30 billion revenue record.
