Panasonic Energy India Appoints Akio Fujita as CMD

Leadership change aims to strengthen the company’s growth and innovation strategy in India.

Panasonic Energy India has appointed Akio Fujita as its Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) to strengthen its business and distribution strategy in the region.

In his previous role, he was in charge of strategy at the Consumer Energy Business Unit, Panasonic Energy Company Ltd, based in Japan.

Fujita succeeds Akinori Isomura as CMD.

In a statement on Monday, Panasonic Energy India, a part of Panasonic Holdings Corporation, announced a change in leadership with the appointment of Akio Fujita as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), effective July 1, 2025.

India continues to be a fast-emerging, strategic market. It will be a priority to further strengthen the business and distribution strategy built by the predecessor, the newly appointed CMD said.

Fujita said, "We will continue to focus on expanding our distribution presence. We will also focus on expanding our product portfolio in line with consumer demand to deliver quality batteries that are leak-proof, safe, and offer superior performance."
