Oracle Layoffs: Displaced Workforce Flocks to LinkedIn for New Opportunities

Several laid-off employees of Oracle took to LinkedIn on Wednesday to announce that they are open to new job opportunities. Affected individuals shared their skills and experience, urging others for leads and calling on organisations to hire.

Among those impacted, Hrishikesha Narsha, who served as Group Manager (Software Development) at Oracle India for 16 years, announced his layoff in a LinkedIn post. “…my journey with Oracle came to an unexpected end yesterday during the layoffs,” he said.

He added, “It is a strange transition to wake up and realise your daily priorities have shifted overnight. While my mind still instinctively drafts to-do lists for projects that are no longer mine, I’m navigating the same heavy questions as many others who got laid off, thinking about family, finances, and the future.”

Narsha said he is choosing to focus on the positives. “Rather than focusing on how this chapter ended, I am choosing to celebrate everything the last 16 years gave me. Oracle shaped me as a leader, and I am deeply grateful for the teammates and partners, some of whom became lifelong friends.” Looking for new opportunities, he added, “I’m ready for a new challenge… If you’re hiring or have a lead, I’d love to connect.”

Similarly, former software engineer Noah Pilkington wrote that he had been laid off due to business restructuring and is now seeking his next role. Highlighting his capabilities, he said he brings an “AI-native mindset,” startup energy, and experience across full-stack, backend, cloud, and automation technologies, including Python, Java, SQL, Terraform, Jenkins, Docker, Linux, and React.

Former Oracle financial analyst Kevin Brunk also shared that he was part of the latest layoffs and is now seeking roles in financial analysis or sales operations, preferably remote or near San Antonio, Texas.

Oracle LayOffs

Oracle has reportedly laid off around 12,000 employees in India, with more cuts expected soon. Globally, the company is said to have let go of nearly 30,000 workers. In an email to staff, Oracle cited “organisational changes” and efforts to “streamline operations” as reasons for the layoffs.

The company has offered severance packages including 15 days’ salary for each year of service, leave encashment, gratuity (where applicable), and notice pay, along with an additional two months’ salary for employees who voluntarily resign.

The layoffs are believed to be part of a broader cost-cutting strategy as Oracle ramps up spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure and data centre expansion. Reports suggest the company plans to raise up to $50 billion to fund this push, even as analysts expect its cloud division to remain cash-flow negative for several years.

The latest job cuts at Oracle follow similar workforce reductions at Meta and Amazon in recent weeks.
