Oister Global Commits Rs 4,500 Crore To PE/VC Funds Over Next Two Years: Report

Investment firm Oister Global is looking to invest in private equity and venture capital funds, as reported by the newspaper Mint, citing top executives. It further added that the firm may invest Rs 4,500 crore in private market funds in the next two years.   

The firm is set to devote about Rs 1,000 crore by the end of the year and another Rs 3,500 crore in the next year, according to Rohit Bhayana, co-CEO and co-founder of the firm, speaking to the newspaper.  

"When we talk about these numbers, we're referring to both debt and equity. On the equity side, it includes venture capital, growth equity, and private equity. On the debt side, it encompasses both startup debt, known as venture debt, and SME debt, referred to as private credit. So fundamentally, if you consider these numbers, we are looking at a basket of five asset categories," he said. 

The company has invested a substantial amount of its fund in Blume Venture. 

The investment firm is expanding its investment portfolio through its private equity fund, Oister India Pinnacle Fund, and is gearing up to introduce a private credit fund within the next 3-4 months. According to Bhayana, approximately Rs 1,000 crore will be invested this year, with around 70 per cent allocated to equity and 30 per cent to debt.  

Oister Global specialises in investing in various private market funds, focusing on venture capital, venture debt, private equity, and private credit. 

Discussing the investment strategy for the year ahead, David Wilton, the chief investment officer at Oister Global, said that despite external factors, the core principles of the strategy remain unchanged. He goes on further, adding that the Indian growth story will continue for the next decade.   

According to Wilton, the firm is identifying VC private equity – early stage, growth stage, private equity, and general partners who have demonstrated top-half return. Artificial intelligence will be a big focus among other areas of interest for the firm, he added. "We're looking for those GPs who have some insight and some ability to intelligently address that."
