Nvidia informed investors on Tuesday that the boost in the CEO’s pay came from across-the-board pay hikes for the executive team
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s salary increased 46% to nearly $50 million on Tuesday after his co-founded company became the top beneficiary of an artificial intelligence spending boom. The salary jumped from the previous year’s $34.2 million, mainly driven by a surge in the value of his stock.
His net worth as of May 14 stood at $114 billion on the Bloomberg Billionaire Index.
The Nvidia CEO’s compensation is comprised of a base salary of $1.5 million, a target cash bonus of $3 million, and an equity award of around $27.5 million based on the performance, Fortune reported.
“The compensation committee believed this was appropriate in consideration of internal pay equity with the base salaries’ of other top executives and it represented Huang’s first base salary increase in 10 years,” said the company in an exchange filing.
The company informed investors on Tuesday that the boost in the CEO’s pay came from across-the-board pay hikes for the executive team. The hike also marked Nvidia CEO’s base salary increased for the first time in a decade mainly due to financial year 2025 revenues of $130.5 billion and operating income of $86.8 billion.
Nvidia also reportedly told investors on May 13 that Jensen Huang’s children work for the company but neither with the CEO nor report to him. Nvidia CEO’s daughter made about $1.1 million, and his son made $530,000 in FY25. His daughter, Madison Huang, is a senior director of marketing, and son, Spencer Huang, is a product manager at NVIDIA.
Nvidia CEO’s compensation hike aligns with a broader trend of rising executive pay in the tech industry. Apple CEO Tim Cook earned $74.6 million in 2024, an 18% increase from last fiscal year fueled by performance-based incentives and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s compensation soared 63% to $79.1 million.
