Kalyani Family Clash Heats Up: Sugandha Hiremath Accuses Younger Brother of Usurping Ancestral Property

The Kalyani Group, however, reportedly refuted the claims of their sister, citing that despite the number of cases filed by her, she hasn’t yet received any court order in her favour

Sugandha Hiremath has filed a petition against her younger brother Gaurishankar Kalyani.

Kalyani Group siblings' clash over inheritance has surfaced again as Sugandha Hiremath accused her younger brother Gaurishankar Kalyani of illegally taking over the ancestral properties in Maharashtra’s Karad. In an affidavit, Hiremath argued that she has found evidence regarding two family-owned properties in Karad that were transferred to Gaurishankar via a power of attorney (POA) granted by their late father, Neelkanth Kalyani, the Economic Times reported.

Additionally, the affidavit also stated that these properties are legally disputed, and the matter is pending before the Karad court.

The Kalyani Group, however, refuted the claims of their sister, citing that despite the number of cases filed by her, she hasn’t yet received any court order in her favour.

“Despite filing a barrage of cases, Sugandha Hiremath has failed to secure a single order in her favour from the courts evidencing the falsehood of her claims,” a spokesperson of Baba Kalyani said, according to ET.

Kalyani Siblings Dispute

This is part of the ongoing legal dispute between the Kalyani siblings over family property and a lawsuit filed by Sugandha, her husband Jaidev Hiremath, and their two children. The Hiremath family has sought the partition of the Kalyani family assets to claim their share of the Kalyani Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) assets.

The petition was filed by Hiremath in September 2024 and is not available in the public domain. In her petition, Babasaheb Kalyani’s sister Sugandha Hiremath claimed rights to a third of all Kalyani family assets, including shares in the conglomerate’s listed companies like Bharat Forge and Kalyani Steels, and private properties like land, real estate and jewellery, the Mint had earlier reported, citing the petition. Additionally, she has sought an injunction limiting her brothers from alienating any family assets, including promoter shares of nearly 250 group companies, until the dispute between siblings is resolved. She has also asked both her brothers to disclose the complete list of family properties.
