Government notified additional policy conditions for exporting second-generation (2G) ethanol.
2G ethanol is produced from cellulosic materials like bagasse, wood waste, lignocellulosic residues (rice straw, wheat straw, corn), non-food crops (grasses, algae), and industrial waste.
Ethanol eligible for export must have low carbon dioxide emissions or high greenhouse gas reduction and must not compete with food crops for land use.
Exports are permitted for both fuel and non-fuel purposes, subject to valid export authorization and feedstock certification from competent authorities.
