Infosys to Buy 75% Stake in Australia's AI-Cloud Services Provider Versent Group

IT services giant Infosys on Wednesday said it will acquire a 75% stake in Australia's digital solutions provider Versent Group for $153 million (A$233.3 million). Versent's current owner, telecom firm Telstra, will continue to hold a 25% stake in the company it bought in 2023.

The deal, which is subject to approvals from the Foreign Investment Review Board of Australia and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, is expected to close in the second half of FY26.

Bengaluru-based IT giant Infosys calls the deal a joint venture with Telstra, which will help deliver "AI-enabled cloud and digital solutions for Australian businesses."

According to Infosys, Versent Group, which has a team of 650 engineers, advisors, and strategists across Australia, has built its reputation by delivering cloud strategies and digital transformation in partnership with leading technology providers. Serving large blue-chip clients in government, education, finance, energy, and utilities, the company reported revenues of $141.64 million (AUD 211.4 million) in FY25.

The deal involves Infosys's Singapore-based subsidiary buying a 75% stake in Versent Group, also known as Telstra Purple Pty Ltd. It includes the integration of Versent, Epicon, Telstra Purple Digital, and associated Cloud Access products. The company plans to boost Versent Group’s cloud and digital transformation expertise with Infosys’s advanced AI capabilities, cloud, data, and digital consulting services.

Infosys’s association with Telstra began in 2024 through a multi-year collaboration to modernise software engineering and IT systems, and expanded in 2025 with Telstra International to support the telecom giant’s Connected Future 30 strategy.
