Gautam Adani’s Rs 10,000 donation at son Jeet’s wedding reflects his 'Seva' philosophy
Breaking away from the pomp and show of a traditional big-fat Indian wedding, the billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani announced a donation of Rs 10,000 crore to social causes on the occasion of his son Jeet Adani’s wedding. Adani chose simplicity, staying true to his philosophy of 'Seva' (selfless service).
Jeet Adani married Diva, the daughter of diamond merchant Jaimin Shah, on February 7 in an intimate ceremony at the Belvedere Club in Ahmedabad’s Adani Shantigram township. The wedding, attended by close family and friends, adhered to Adani’s earlier statement that the event would be a "simple and traditional" ceremony, rather than a star-studded affair.
Adani shared in a post on X that the wedding was an intimate gathering upholding cultural traditions. He also apologised for not being able to invite all well wishers, saying, "It was a small and extremely private function, so we could not invite all the well-wishers even if we wanted to, for which I apologise".
Adani’s donation aligns with his philosophy of "Seva sadhana hai, seva prarthana hai, aur seva hi parmatma hai" (Selfless service is Sadhana, Service is Prayer, and Service is God). The donation is expected to support the development of affordable hospitals, medical colleges, K-12 schools, and global skill academies focused on enhancing employability, reported ET.
Two days before the wedding, Adani launched ‘Mangal Seva’ on 5 February, a programme in which financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh will be provided to 500 newly married differently-abled women each year. Jeet Adani participated in the launch by meeting 21 beneficiaries.
Jeet Adani is the son of Gautam and Priti Adani. He is the Vice President of Group Finance at the Adani Group and the Director of Adani Digital Labs. Born in 1997, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
