Bikaji Foods Partners With Bakery Expert Thayekunni Khaleel, Retains 70% Stake In Bikaji Bakes

Bikaji Foods International has partnered with bakery industry expert Thayekunni Khaleel to strengthen its bakery business through subsidiary Bikaji Bakes Private Limited (BBPL), according to a company press release.

As part of the partnership, Bikaji Foods has transferred a 30% equity stake in Bikaji Bakes to Khaleel, while retaining a 70% majority stake. Bikaji Bakes will continue to remain a subsidiary of Bikaji Foods following the transaction.

The partnership brings together Khaleel’s technical expertise and global bakery experience with Bikaji Foods’ understanding of Indian consumers, distribution network and presence across the retail ecosystem, the company said.

Bikaji Bakes To Get Global Bakery Expertise

Through the partnership, Bikaji Bakes aims to bring world-class bakery practices, technical capabilities and expertise to India, according to the company.

Bikaji Foods said the venture will use its existing market infrastructure and consumer reach to build a scalable bakery business with strong long-term potential. The company said the partnership combines its market strengths with Khaleel’s technical knowledge and international bakery experience.

The collaboration is also expected to support Bikaji Bakes as it pursues focused growth, while allowing Bikaji Foods to continue concentrating on its core business and create greater value across its subsidiary portfolio, the company said.

Commenting on the partnership, Deepak Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, Bikaji Foods International, said bakery is a category with “significant headroom for growth” in India.
