Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited commissions a pioneering 1040 kW Bifacial Solar System at Asia's largest Chengmari Tea Estate, marking a significant leap in clean energy for Eastern India.
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a prominent entity within India's renewable energy sector and a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has successfully commissioned a groundbreaking 1040 kW Bifacial Solar System project in collaboration with Chengmari Tea Estate, recognized as Asia's largest tea estate. This noteworthy achievement represents the inaugural installation of on-ground bifacial modules in eastern India.
Despite encountering challenging monsoon conditions spanning a duration of 3.5 months, the project, encompassing the installation of approximately 1,900 modules, was completed within a commendable six-month timeframe. It is anticipated that this initiative will yield an estimated annual energy generation of 1.5 MUs for the Tea Estate.
During the recent opening event, attended by about 100 tea garden workers and owners, the significance of TPREL's commitment to clean and sustainable energy in the region was evident. This project is expected to greatly decrease the area's carbon footprint, with an estimated annual reduction of 29,420 lakh tonnes of CO2, equivalent to planting 47,000 teak trees.
