Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet Cancel More Flights: Check Affected Routes

A day after the Indian government announced the reopening of 32 airports affected by cross-border tensions with Pakistan, airlines have cancelled more flights near border cities. Among the most affected routes are flights to and from Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot.

"In view of the latest developments and keeping your safety in mind, flights to and from Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot are cancelled for Tuesday, 13th May. We are monitoring the situation and will keep you updated," Tata Sons-owned Air India said in a travel advisory posted on X on 13th May.

In a similar travel advisory, IndiGo said that flights to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot are cancelled for 13th May “in light of the latest developments and with your safety as our utmost priority.”

"We understand how this may disrupt your travel plans and regret the inconvenience caused. Our teams are actively monitoring the situation and will promptly keep you informed of further updates. Before heading to the airport, please check your flight status on our website or app," said IndiGo in a post on X.

On Monday, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said that the 32 airports shut down on 9th May amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan would reopen.

“The temporary closure of 32 airports for civil aircraft operations till 05:29 hrs on 15th May 2025 has been lifted. These airports are now available for civil aircraft operations with immediate effect. Travellers are advised to check flight status directly with the airlines and monitor airline websites for regular updates,” the Ministry of Civil Aviation said in a statement.

The affected airports are primarily located near the India–Pakistan border, including cities such as Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jaisalmer, Leh, Pathankot, Porbandar, Srinagar, and Shimla.

Following the announcement, almost all airlines announced the resumption of flights to these cities.

"Starting 13th May, services will resume on routes including Hindon–Bengaluru, Jammu–Delhi, Jammu–Srinagar, and Srinagar–Delhi. Operations on Hindon–Mumbai are planned to resume from 14th May. The reinstatement of other flights, including international services from Amritsar, is expected to follow from 15th May," said Air India Express, the low-cost subsidiary of Air India, on X.

"Flight restrictions to/from Leh, Srinagar, Jammu, Dharamshala, Kandla, and Amritsar have been lifted. Flights will resume soon — we look forward to welcoming you on board!" SpiceJet said.
