Ram Navami- April 6 (Sunday)

This is one of the major Hindu festival in the calendar. It marks the birth of Lord Rama. Although it falls on a Sunday, It is officially recognised as a public holiday in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi Maharashtra, Gujarat and others.

Mahavir Jayanti – April 10 (Thursday)

Mahavir Jayanti marks the birth of Lord Mahavir and an important day for the Jain community. It is a public holiday in states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Delhi with schools, banks and offices remaining closed.

Ambedkar Jayanti – April 14 (Monday)

To honour Dr B.R Ambedkar birth anniversary. This day is a public holiday in states like Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and many more states.

Regional New Years – April 14 (Monday)

April 14 is celebrated as New Year in many parts of India. Bengal marks Pohela Boishakh, Odisha celebrates Pana Sankranti, Bihar observes Jur Sital, while Kerala, Assam, and Tamil Nadu celebrate Vishu, Bohag Bihu, and Puthandu. The day is a public holiday in these states.

Good Friday – April 18 (Friday)

April 18 is observed as an important day for the Christian community. Banks in Kerala, Goa, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Delhi and several northeastern states including Nagaland, Mizoram, and Meghalaya will remain closed.

State-Specific Holiday

Apart from the national holidays, Uttar Pradesh marks Maharishi Kashyap Jayanti on April 5 as a restricted holiday. Rajasthan celebrate Jyotiba Phule Jayanti on April 11 in honour of the social reformer. Vaisakhi holiday on April 13
