Lucid Group, Nuro, and Uber Technologies have unveiled their ready-to-use robotaxi at CES 2026. The project combines Lucid’s vehicle design, Nuro’s self-driving technology, and Uber’s passenger experience for a global autonomous ride service.
Lucid Group will supply the robotaxi platform using its Lucid Gravity SUV. This gives the vehicle a spacious, comfortable interior and strong performance, forming the foundation for Uber’s autonomous ride-hailing service.
Robotaxi testing started last month in the San Francisco Bay Area. Nuro is running the trials with self-driving prototypes supervised by trained operators to make sure the cars are safe before public launch.
Uber has designed the in-cabin experience for passengers. Features include climate control, heated seats, music, real-time route tracking, support contact, and an option to request stops, delivering a comfortable autonomous ride.
The robotaxi is equipped with a new sensor suite combining cameras, solid-state lidar, and radar for full 360-degree awareness. A roof-mounted halo with LEDs shows trip status and vehicle identification.
The vehicle can carry up to six passengers and has space for luggage. It uses NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor to power the self-driving system, helping the car move safely in traffic.
Nuro’s safety tests include closed tracks, simulations, and public roads. These trials check how the car sees the road, plans trips, and behaves in different traffic situations before it is launched.
The robotaxi is expected to start production later this year in Lucid’s Arizona factory. CES visitors can see it at NVIDIA’s showcase from January 5–8, 2026, for the first public view.
