Outlook Planet C3: Talks around sustainability are taking centre-stage all over the world. As the global corporate sphere continues its transition to a more climate-conscious environment, sustainability-driven change is inevitable.

Outlook Planet started off its first edition of C3—Climate Circularity Community—a flagship sustainability event, on March 10. While businesses often have platforms to present their views, small industries and Micro, Small, and Medium (MSMEs) Enterprises lack the same opportunities.

India is home to nearly 6 crore registered MSMEs, which contribute to approximately 30% of the country's GDP. These enterprises consume around 25% of the industrial sector's energy and are projected to contribute over 72 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions by 2030.

"Despite the urgency of climate change, the understanding of green financing remains limited. We aim to build a platform to empower both people and industries, especially MSMEs, so that their voices don't go unheard," said Indranil Roy, CEO, Outlook group.

MSMEs remain the backbone of our country as India strives to become a developed nation in the coming years. However, these industries often struggle to have their voices heard with larger industries dominate the conversation.

"With rising temperatures threatening productivity and global tensions over sustainability, it's important that MSMEs are not left behind in the race to a sustainable future. As India strives to become a developed nation by 2047, we must ensure that MSMEs remain at the forefront of discussions, driving both economic growth and sustainability," said Neeraj Thakur, Editor, Outlook Business, while addressing the crowd.

"India's leadership in the global south means we can't afford to ignore sustainability, as we are among the most impacted. Our export competitiveness and future success depend on it," he added.
