GE T&D India announced on Tuesday that it has secured orders worth Rs 500 crore from the state-owned Power Grid Corporation of India for grid modernization projects. These projects are focused on enabling the integration of renewable energy into the national electricity grid and enhancing electricity transmission across India, including Rajasthan.

A BSE filing by GE T&D India, a part of GE Vernova's Grid Solutions business, disclosed that the orders include the supply of 765 kV power transformers and shunt reactors for various transmission system projects undertaken by the Power Grid Corporation of India.

Sandeep Zanzaria, Managing Director and CEO of GE T&D India, expressed his delight in supporting the Power Grid Corporation of India's efforts to modernise India's grid infrastructure. He emphasised that the equipment supplied is locally manufactured, aligning with the government's Make in India initiative.

GE T&D India has a successful track record of manufacturing and supplying over 600 transformers and reactors of the 765 kV class from its Power Transformer facility in Vadodara, Gujarat, both to customers in India and overseas.

As part of the project, GE T&D India will provide a complete equipment package, covering design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, and the erection and commissioning of the 765 kV class transformers and reactors at designated transmission substation sites. The orders were booked in October 2023, and equipment delivery is expected to take place from the beginning of 2024 through 2025.

GE T&D India is committed to the Make in India initiative and demonstrates its dedication by supplying critical grid products from advanced manufacturing facilities located in Padappai, Hosur, Vadodara, Noida, and Pallavaram.
