Infosys Terminates 195 More Trainees in Fourth Exit Round of 2025

Infosys has once again dismissed a group of trainees from its training campus in Mysuru. At least 195 candidates were terminated on April 29 after failing internal assessments, as per reports. These trainees were part of a batch of 680 who took the evaluation.

So far in 2025, the Bengaluru-based IT giant has let go of nearly 800 freshers. This includes about 240 dismissals on April 18, over 300 in February, and another 30–35 in March. The company is now offering free upskilling programs through NIIT and UpGrad to the affected trainees, after facing backlash over the February terminations.

What Infosys Is Offering to Dismissed Freshers

Infosys is providing alternate career paths to impacted trainees, including a 12-week training program for potential roles in its Business Process Management (BPM) division. Many of the affected candidates had already experienced onboarding delays of over two and a half years.

Infosys has partnered with UpGrad for BPM training and with NIIT for IT-focused courses, Moneycontrol reported.

For those who opt for the BPM route, Infosys will cover the full cost of training. The company is also offering a one-month ex-gratia payment and a relieving letter.

The report noted that around 250 trainees have enrolled in the upskilling programs, while approximately 150 have signed up for outplacement support.

Trainees who choose not to pursue the BPM path are reportedly being provided with transport from Mysuru to Bengaluru, along with a standard travel allowance to return to their hometowns. Accommodation at the Mysuru Employee Care Centre is also being made available until their departure.

These workforce reductions come as Infosys faces a subdued demand environment, with the company projecting revenue growth of just 0–3% for the current financial year, reflecting continued market challenges.

At a recent post-earnings press conference, CEO Salil Parekh stated, “We have a rigorous way to test individuals, and that process has remained unchanged for over 20 years,” addressing concerns over the large number of trainees being let go after assessments.

Infosys added 199 employees in Q4, bringing its total headcount to 323,578 for FY25 — a year-on-year increase of 6,388. The attrition rate for the last twelve months rose slightly to 14.1% from 13.7% in the December quarter.

On rising attrition, CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka acknowledged competition from multiple players, including Global Capability Centers (GCCs). Parekh added that Infosys has supported some GCCs in setting up or expanding operations, but clarified, “We haven’t set up any new GCC unit.”

Sanghrajka also announced that Infosys plans to hire over 20,000 freshers in FY26 and confirmed that salary hikes were implemented in January and April.
