Aarthi Subramanian will step down from various board positions occupied by her presently, including Tata Capital, Tata AIA Life Insurance, Infiniti Retail, and Tata Electronics
Tata Group’s IT firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) appointed its first woman Chief Operating Officer (COO), Aarthi Subramanian. The 58-year-old female leader will also take charge as its Executive Director-President. According to the company’s statement, she is set to serve as TCS COO for five years, starting from May 1,2025, to April 30, 2030.
“At Tata Sons, she has been instrumental in ensuring that Tata Group companies harness digital technologies to enhance operational efficiency, customer engagement, and competitive advantage,” said the company in a statement.
She will step down from her board positions, including Tata Capital, Tata AIA Life Insurance, Infiniti Retail, and Tata Electronics.
Aarthi Subramanian presently serves as the Group Chief Digital Officer at Tata Group’s holding company, Tata Sons. She has vast experience in technology and operations as she takes care of the salt-to-power conglomerate’s digital, technological and innovation needs across different segments.
Her tenure with the Tata Group spans over three decades. In her long-standing career with the conglomerate, she served as the Head of Delivery for the Retail and CPG Business Unit at TCS, then was the Executive Director and Global Head of Delivery Excellence, Governance and Compliance at TCS, the statement mentioned.
Besides this, Subramanian occupied key positions, including Director at TCS, Tata Capital, and Tata AIA Life Insurance Co. She has experience as the Director of Infiniti Retail, where she was responsible for operations of Tata’s electronic retail business, Croma.
According to the TOI report, she is nicknamed within the group as ‘Ms. Fixit’ due to her ability to fix issues and shoot trouble.
Subramanian graduated with a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from the National Institute of Technology in Warangal. She later pursued a Master's in Engineering Management from the University of Kansas. She began her career as a graduate trainee in TCS in 1989.
