Prime Minister Modi in his first public address since Operation Sindoor, said terror and talk, terror and trade and water and blood can’t happen together
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India in the last few days has shown both capability and patience following the April 22 Pahalgam attack. In an online public address on May 12, he appreciated the efforts of armed forces, the military and the intelligence in efforts to crackdown terrorism in Pakistan and along the border areas.
"We all have seen the capability and patience of the country in the last few days. I salute the armed forces, the military, the intelligence agency and the scientists...," said PM.
This is Prime Minister Modi’s first public address since Operation Sindoor, carried out by the Indian army in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
Prior to this, on April 10, Modi had chaired a high-level meeting with the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and chiefs of all three services following the India-Pakistan ceasefire announcement on Saturday.
Apart from highlighting the role played by the defence forces to ensure national security, PM Modi appreciated the unity shown by the country across different communities, sections of society and political parties to stand against terrorism.
PM Narendra Modi outlined that Operation Sindoor is India’s new normal in counter-terrorism measures. He highlighted three key pillars of India’s security doctrine, including decisive retaliation, no tolerance for nuclear blackmail and no distinction between terror sponsors and terrorists. India will not differentiate between terrorist leaders and the governments protecting them as separate entities, he added in his speech.
“Operation Sindoor is now India’s established policy in the fight against terrorism, marking a decisive shift in India’s strategic approach,” PM Modi said.
Besides applauding the role of defence forces and citizens, PM Modi highlighted that Operation Sindoor has shown the world the power of Made-in-India defence equipment and systems and has added a new dimension to the nation’s military capabilities.
“The world is now witnessing the arrival of Made in India defense systems as a formidable force in 21st-century warfare,” said the PM.
Shedding light on India-Pakistan relations, he mentioned that terror and diplomatic talk cannot happen together, terror and trade cannot coexist, and blood and water cannot flow together. He emphasised that any future talk with the nuclear neighbour will be centred around Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
