He also added that it is important for the country to have its own AI model and at the same time be open to western models. "We are now making around 15,000 GPUs and it will be made accessible for the nation as a whole and the cost is significantly lower. This will help enhance the role out of AI," said Krishnan.

To become a viksit bharat in 2047, Artificial Intelligence will be an important factor, said Krishnan, adding that India has a very focused and clear program of implementing artificial intelligence adoption in the country.

Krishnan was speaking at an event in New Delhi which was celebrating one year of the IndiaAI mission. The event saw the launch of several initiates by the government including AI Kosha - IndiaAI Datasets Platform, IndiaAI Compute Portal for accessing GPUs.

Further, the government also announced the name of top 30 AI applications from the IndiaAI Innovation Challenge across 5 themes.

IndiaAI Datasets Platform AI Kosh is a pivotal initiative under the IndiaAI Mission. It has been launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on March 6, 2025.

Researchers and start-ups stand to benefit from it by gaining access to high-quality, non-personal datasets through the platform. This data will be essential for driving artificial intelligence (AI) innovation. Before being launched, the platform was tested by various government agencies.
