If your heart is set on looking royal, designer Nivedita Saboo’s vintage Kinkhwab brocade Sherwani will make you look like the king. The sherwani is fully encrusted with Swarovski crystals with a combination of antique gold zardosi and real gold zari embroidery, further decorated with precious emerald and diamond buttons. Priced at Rs. 3 lakh, the sherwani embodies the majestic traditional wedding get-ups created to suit the modern Indian groom. The sherwani takes close to 2,000 hours to be completed.”

What steals the limelight is the bespoke tailoring process once you place an order. “The creative process begins with a one-to-one interaction with the groom to understand his personal tastes and preferences, and ceremonial needs. The next step is the creation of a detailed palette of sherwani sketches and swatches, which comprises surface techniques, colour and fabric options. Once the design is locked down, dummy trials as well as muslin fits and drapes are conducted to achieve the perfect contour and the desired outfit,” explains Nikhil Mehra, couturier and director of the brand.

The luxury masterpiece, priced at Rs. 120,000, is made out of specially woven metallic brocade and takes a month to be created. Explaining the customisation process, designer Rajesh Pratap Singh says, “A sherwani takes 3-4 meetings with the clients who are involved in selecting the fabric, measurements, designs, trial and fitting, the final trial and delivery. Linings buttons and trims can be also selected for each piece.”
