Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said India has the capacity to become an exporter of SAF due to 750+ million tonnes of biomass and 230 million tonnes of surplus agri-residue.
SAF feedstocks include biomass, agricultural residue, and used cooking oil, which can be used as drop-in aviation fuel.
A feasibility study, prepared with ICAO and EU support, assessed India’s SAF potential in terms of feedstock, production, infrastructure, and policy readiness.
