Air India Plane Crash Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called the civil aviation minister Rammohan Naidu, who is on his way to Ahmedabad airport, to get ground details of the incident and has asked to ensure all necessary support, the ministry added.

Air India Plane Crash Live Updates: Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was reportedly one of the 242 passengers on board on the crashed Air India plane. He is severely injured in the crash, the MoneyControl reported, citing his team's official statement.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed condolences over Air India plane crash. The plane, reportedly, had 53 British nationals. 

“The scenes emerging of a London-bound plane carrying many British nationals crashing in the Indian city of Ahmedabad are devastating. I am being kept updated as the situation develops, and my thoughts are with the passengers and their families at this deeply distressing time,” said UK PM.

Addressing the tragic Air India plane crash on Thursday, Home Minister Amit Shah said he is touch with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to assess the situation on ground.

“Pained beyond words by the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. Disaster response forces have been quickly rushed to the crash site. Spoke with the Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and Commissioner of Police Ahmedabad to assess the situation,” said the Home Minister.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed distress over Air India plane crash. She said, "I am deeply distressed to learn about the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. It is a heart-rending disaster. My thoughts and prayers are with the affected people. The nation stands with them in this hour of indescribable grief."

Three teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are currently operating at the plane crash site in Ahmedabad. According to the NDRF, an additional three teams are being dispatched from Vadodara to reinforce ongoing rescue and recovery efforts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “The tragedy in Ahmedabad has stunned and saddened us. It is heartbreaking beyond words. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with everyone affected by it. I have been in touch with Ministers and authorities who are working to assist those affected.”

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, speaking from Kalaburagi, Karnataka, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash. “I pay tribute and offer my deepest condolences to those who lost their lives,” he said.

“The government must immediately extend assistance to the bereaved families and to residents of the crash area. Congress leaders will also support relief efforts. This accident demands a thorough investigation.”

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took to X to offer his “deepest condolences” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India following the tragic passenger plane crash in Ahmedabad.

He expressed solidarity with victims’ families in India, the UK, Portugal, and Canada, and prayed for as many lives to be saved as possible, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

“We are in contact with Air India regarding Flight 171 and stand ready to support them,” Boeing Airplanes said. “Our thoughts are with the passengers, crew, first responders, and all those affected.”

Air India Plane Crash LIVE Updates: Indian Army teams totaling approximately 130 personnel have been deployed to support the civil administration’s Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) efforts following the Air India flight crash near Ahmedabad.

The response force includes engineering units equipped with JCBs for debris clearance; medical teams of doctors and paramedics; Quick Action Teams (QATs); fire‑fighting assets such as extinguishers and water bowsers; and provost staff for site management. Additionally, the Military Hospital has been placed on standby to provide urgent medical care as needed.

Ahmedabad police have confirmed that there appear to be no survivors after a London‑bound passenger aircraft carrying 242 people crashed on Thursday. City police commissioner G.S. Malik told AFP that all on board are presumed dead.

The plane came down in a mixed residential and office area near a medical college, resulting in further casualties on the ground. “Since the airplane has fallen on an area which was residential and had some offices, there are more casualties as well,” Malik said. No definitive figures for on‑site injuries or fatalities have yet been released.

Ahmedabad Police have released a list of 25 people injured in the plane crash. According to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Gujarat Health Department, the crash site included the students' hostel, staff quarters, and other residential areas near Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. Around 50 injured individuals have been brought to the hospital for treatment.

"In addition to the dedicated passenger hotline number 1800 5691 444, we have added another hotline number for foreign nationals +91 8062779200. Air India requests media persons not to call the dedicated passenger hotline number," Air India said.

"Ahmedabd Civil Hospital students' hostel, staff quarters and other residential areas are located in the area where the plane crashed. The residents of that area were also injured. About 50 injured people have been brought to Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad. They are being provided the best treatment. They are serious but stable. DNA testing arrangements have been made at B.J. Medical, so families and close ones of the flight passengers, especially their parents and children, are requested to submit their samples at the location," said Dhananjay Dwivedi, Additional Chief Secretary, Gujarat Health and Family Welfare Department

Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu arrived at the Air India plane crash site in Ahmedabad to take stock of the situation following the fatal crash.

"Akshata and I are deeply shocked and distressed by the news of the Air India tragedy. There is a unique bond between our two nations and our thoughts and prayers go out to the British and Indian families who have lost loved ones today," said Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak on X.

"The FAA is in contact with the NTSB regarding Air India flight AI171, operating from Ahmedabad (AMD) to London Gatwick (LGW), that was involved in an accident in India on Thursday, June 12. When an international incident occurs, that government leads the investigation. In the event assistance is requested, the NTSB is the official U.S. representative and the FAA provides technical support. We stand ready to launch a team immediately in coordination with the NTSB," Said US aviation watch dog FAA.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conveyed his sympathies to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India following the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad.

"To my friend @PMOIndia @narendramodi and the people of India, I was saddened to learn of the tragic Air India crash that has taken the lives of 242 men, women and children. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the fallen,” Netanyahu said.

“Saddened at the crash of Air India flight in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Condolences over the loss of precious lives in this tragic incident. Our sympathies are with the families of the victims in this hour of grief,” said Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

"I am totally shaken by the tragic and horrific incident. I am still in a state of shock. The PM called me and asked me to be here at the site. At this time, I can only think of the passengers and their families. Many agencies have been engaged in rescue operations. I don't want to say anything about the numbers yet. We are extending all help. The Union Home Minister is also coming to the site here. Very sad to know that (BJP leader) Vijay Rupani was also there, and so were other nationals. We are going to do a fair and thorough investigation. We will go to the depths of why this incident happened," said Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu at the crash site.

"The police found one survivor in seat 11A. One survivor has been found in the hospital and is under treatment. Cannot say anything about the number of deaths yet. The death toll may increase as the flight crashed in a residential area," Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik told news agency ANI

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Ahmedabad following the tragic plane crash that occurred earlier today, Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil said.

"I want to brief you on a serious incident that involved an Air India aircraft a short while ago. But first and most importantly, I would like to express our deep sorrow about this event. This is a difficult day for all of us at Air India, and our efforts now are focused entirely on the needs of our passengers, crew members, their families, and loved ones. I know that there are many questions and at this stage I will not be able to answer all of them," said Campbell Wilson, CEO of Air India.

At the Civil Hospital in Asarwa, Ahmedabad, 40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh is recovering from injuries sustained in the deadly crash.

“Thirty seconds after take-off, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly,” he told Hindustan Times, describing the chaos. He suffered impact injuries to his chest, eyes, and feet.

A British national, Vishwash had been visiting family in India and was returning to the UK with his brother, Ajay Kumar Ramesh.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has arrived at the site of the Ahmedabad plane crash. He is accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol, and Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi.

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was confirmed dead in the Air India AI171 crash near Ahmedabad on Thursday. Union Minister CR Patil confirmed his death, saying, “May God give peace to the departed soul.”

Listed as passenger number 12, Rupani was travelling to London to visit his family. He is survived by his wife and two children.

"Tata Group will provide ₹1 crore to the families of each person who has lost their life in this tragedy. We will also cover the medical expenses of those injured and ensure that they receive all necessary care and support. Additionally, we will provide support in the building up of the BJ Medical's hostel," said N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons.

Air India owner, Tata Sons' Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said he has spoken with the CEO of Boeing and requested a thorough investigation into the incident. He confirmed that a team of experts from Boeing is on its way to India to assist in the probe. Chandrasekaran made the statement while speaking to CNBC-TV18.

Today is the "worst day of my professional career," he added.

Air India has announced two special relief flights each from Delhi and Mumbai to Ahmedabad for the next of kin of passengers and Air India staff affected by the crash.

GE Aerospace, which supplied the engines for the crashed Air India Flight AI-171, expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and confirmed its support for the investigation.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Air India Flight AI-171. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the families and loved ones of those impacted. We have activated our emergency response team and are prepared to support our customer and the investigation,” the company said in a statement.

"The Government of Nepal is deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic crash of Air India flight AI 171 in Ahmedabad, India today. The Government of Nepal extends its heartfelt condolences to the Government and friendly people of India, and to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones in this unfortunate incident. During this time of profound sorrow, the Government and people of Nepal stand in solidarity with the Government and people of India, offering heartfelt sympathy while wishing for speedy recovery of the injured," said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal said in statement.

The UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has formally offered assistance to India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) following the Air India Flight AI171 crash.

In a statement, the UK government said the AAIB will hold “expert status” in the Indian-led investigation, in line with ICAO Annex 13 provisions, as British nationals were aboard the aircraft. A multidisciplinary investigation team is being deployed to India to support the ongoing probe.

Over 240 passengers are feared to have died and more than 50 have been injured after a London-bound Air India international flight crashed near Ahmedabad airport on Thursday. While the exact death toll is yet to be confirmed, police officials told news agencies that a British national named Ramesh Viswashkumar seated in 11A is currently undergoing treatment.

"A special team of caregivers from Air India has arrived in Ahmedabad to provide support to our teams on ground. We are working with local authorities to provide necessary assistance and are extending full cooperation to the authorities investigating this incident," said Air India on X
