BrahMos travels at speeds of Mach 2.8 to 3.0, making it nearly three times faster than the speed of sound. This velocity makes it extremely difficult for enemy defenses to intercept.
The missile is capable of being launched from land, sea, air and submarines, enhancing strategic flexibility. It was first test-launched in 2001, marking the beginning of India’s journey with supersonic cruise missile technology.
Equipped with advanced guidance systems, BrahMos ensures accurate targeting with minimal collateral damage.
The BrahMos missile incorporates advanced stealth technology, significantly reducing its radar signature and making it extremely difficult for enemy surveillance systems to detect or track it during flight.
India used its advanced BrahMos cruise missile system during the precision strikes on Pakistani military installations in the early hours of Saturday, May 10, as per a report by The Indian Express.
As reported by Mint, setting up a manufacturing facility for the BrahMos missile required an investment of around Rs 300 crore, while the estimated price of a single missile is close to Rs 34 crore.
