TARA, a Development Alternative group partner, has played a key role in developing Limestone Calcined Clay Cement (LC3). LC3 is a composite cement with up to 50 percent clinker content, offering advantages over traditional cement in terms of reduced CO2 emissions, lower energy consumption, comparable strength, and improved durability.

TARA organized an LC3 Celebration Day in New Delhi, supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). TARA and Promac Engineering signed an MoU to provide turnkey solutions for calcined clay cement production in India and globally.

Representatives from cement industries, construction companies, and agencies attended. Speakers highlighted the readiness of cement companies to produce LC3 and the demand from construction agencies. Market availability of LC3 in India is expected by 2024.
