Manage less: Proactively guide employees to take ownership of how they manage their time and resources. Micromanaging can be counterproductive as it makes them feel less empowered and creates an atmosphere of distrust. Create self-starters who can operate independently and motivate them to achieve their goals, instead of controlling them.

Create a vibrant Culture: Empowerment is more than a buzzword. Ensure that your organisation’s culture promotes open and transparent communication and creates opportunities for employees to connect, learn and grow. A great work culture magnifies people’s strengths and nurtures individuality.

Support and encourage: Inspiration fuels extraordinary performance and it can be done by engaging people in challenging and meaningful work. Motivate employees to contribute to bigger projects that facilitate partnership and coordination across the company. This will not only increase their visibility, but offer a platform to prove themselves and inculcate a sense of purpose.

Provide mentoring: How well new employees are integrated into the workforce directly affects their performance. Effective mentoring can bridge the gap between an experienced and a new employee, and help the latter to quickly absorb the organisation’s culture and values. It is imperative to foster an environment where employees can openly discuss or debate their ideas and opinions.

Upskill and reskill: Employees must keep up with constant technological change and competition in the industry. Ensure that they have access to the right opportunities and tools to develop additional skills. This will make them future-ready and enable them to confidently take on challenges.
