Guidelines for Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme Finalised, Portal To Be Launched Soon: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Vaishnaw highlighted that Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), PCB assemblies, camera modules, and a wide range of electro-mechanical components are key focus areas for the government in electronics manufacturing

Guidelines for the newly launched ‘Electronic Component Manufacturing Scheme’ have been finalised, and the scheme’s online portal is set to go live soon, enabling faster access to benefits for eligible companies, announced Ashwini Vaishnaw Electronics and IT Minister on Friday at the inauguration of VVDN’s Global Innovation Park and Mechanical Innovation Park.

“The work on the guidelines for the ‘Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme’ is nearly complete. We will be launching the portal in the next few days so that implementation can begin,” said Vaishnaw.

The newly inaugurated SMT Line is VVDN’s largest, supporting PCB sizes up to 850mm x 560mm, with a high-speed capacity of 250,000 CPH (components per hour). This advanced infrastructure will enable VVDN to manufacture large and complex products such as AI servers, networking equipment, and motherboards.

“We have set up large design teams and are operating out of a facility that houses some of the best design talent in the country. These engineers are working on some of the most complex products, taking a significant leap from legacy systems,” said the Electronics & IT Minister.

“What’s particularly exciting is that many of these products now have AI embedded within their systems, giving us a distinct advantage over many other countries that don’t possess this level of design capability,” he added.

Vaishnaw highlighted that Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), PCB assemblies, camera modules, and a wide range of electro-mechanical components are key focus areas for the government in electronics manufacturing.

He praised the domestic electronics manufacturing ecosystem for its commendable progress across design, testing, and production.

We are designing every component of a smartphone and manufacturing it entirely in-house, that’s a crucial step forward for our national security,” said Vaishnaw.

India’s electronics manufacturing sector is growing rapidly, currently employing around 25 lakh people. A significant portion of this workforce comprises young, skilled women who are working on highly complex tasks across the value chain.

Addressing the need for a skilled workforce, the Electronics and IT Minister said that companies have begun setting up their own training centres to equip people with sector-specific skills.

Vaishnaw also highlighted the potential for India’s electronics manufacturing exports to reach $500 billion.

“The Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme in the Cabinet will further strengthen our electronics manufacturing ecosystem, create more jobs, and enhance India's global competitiveness,” he added.

VVDN is the only company in India that focusses on Design led Manufacturing with great emphasis on backward integration, thereby empowering India. VVDN’s strong product design expertise sets it apart from others in the industry.

With these new facilities, VVDN is poised to add a combined total of over 3000 skilled professionals, furthering the government’s vision of employment generation and high-tech skilling.
