Outlook Planet C3: Vishwa Carbon Promises to Cut ESG Compliance Time for MSMEs

The second day of Outlook Planet C3 Summit and Awards marked the launch of Vishwa Carbon, an end-to-end decarbonisation platform, in collaboration with Primus Partners. With a global presence across five countries, which represents Bharat Carbon in India, Vishwa Carbon is largely focusing on MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) to help them in their net zero journey.

"Sustainability is not an option anymore, but a competitive advantage. Not including ESG in business strategy planning could erode nearly 30% of your marketing value," said Tanish Shewani, CEO at Bharat Carbon. 

This product is made in a simplified way specifically for MSMEs to not overcrowd them with extensive frameworks, Shewani informed. This subscription-based model aims to provide the MSMEs access to knowledge base, expertise, localised support in regional languages and helps them to adopt ESG into their business operations.

Vishwa Carbon offers a streamlined approach to carbon accounting and ESG reporting, significantly reducing the time required for compliance. The platform claims to complete carbon accounting within two weeks, ESG reporting within four weeks, and net-zero strategy development within another four weeks, cutting down the traditional process time of six months to a year.

It is also an attempt where analysis is done in a centralised model, but with a decentralised data collection mechanism. It also claims to help with ESG reports, enabling MSMEs to create a carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) compliance report within the platform, that is AI-assisted.

Calling on the MSMEs to act urgently, Shewani highlighted that global supply chains are getting more demanding, requiring carbon accounting reports for businesses and to disclose certain other information before they work with them.

"India being a powerhouse which exports a lot to the European Union and the US, that's where that particular challenge arises. Second one is regulation compliance. With CBAM coming in place, and it's slowly going to be mandated very soon, creating tools that help you simplify the process of reporting is something that is the need of the hour," the Bharat Carbon CEO noted.
