WhatsApp has launched a new companion app for the Apple Watch, allowing users to read messages, view notifications, and send voice notes without using their iPhone.
The new app lets Apple Watch users stay connected on WhatsApp without pulling out their iPhones, offering a seamless way to manage chats directly from their wrist.
Users can view full messages, receive call alerts, record and send voice messages and react using emojis, mirroring most functions available on the main WhatsApp iPhone app.
WhatsApp says users will now see clearer images, stickers, and chat history directly on their Apple Watch, providing a more complete conversation experience than before.
Just like the phone and web versions, all messages and calls on the WhatsApp Apple Watch app remain fully end-to-end encrypted for user privacy and security.
To access the WhatsApp Apple Watch app, users must have an Apple Watch Series 4 or newer model running on watchOS 10 or a later version.
The move aligns with WhatsApp’s growing focus on Apple devices, following its earlier iPad app launch that finally allowed tablet users to chat without relying on web versions.
In comparison, Snapchat also launched its Apple Watch app earlier this year, but with fewer features. WhatsApp’s version is more advanced yet still misses voice or video calls, new chat creation and status viewing.
