Swiggy has paused its Genie service in multiple cities. This pickup-and-drop service is currently unavailable in major locations. Swiggy cites operational constraints as the reason.
The pickup-and-drop service available in 70 cities, cannot be found on the Swiggy app in most locations. Users who can see the Genie service on the Swiggy app are being redirected to a ‘temporarily unavailable’ message.
Genie service is currently unavailable in Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Pune.
Responding to user complaints on X, formerly Twitter, Swiggy said ''The Genie service has been suspended due to operational constraints.''
Swiggy said while there is no concrete timeline for Genie’s return yet, its team is working to get the service back up and running.
This is not the first time Swiggy has taken Genie offline. In 2022, the company had stopped the service in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Hyderabad citing rise in demand for its food delivery service and quick commerce arm Instamart.
The suspension follows the expansion of Swiggy’s Bolt service. Bolt promises 10-minute delivery.
“The company clarified that it has not made any changes to Swiggy Xpress (formerly Swiggy Genie/Bolt), which continues to operate.''
