Jewar Airport Launch Begins

Noida International Airport in Jewar is set to begin commercial flight operations on June 15, marking a major aviation milestone for the National Capital Region as the airport prepares to open its first phase for domestic connectivity and passenger services.

Fewer Airlines At Launch

Passengers will see fewer airlines at the start of operations as Air India Express has postponed its entry indefinitely. This leaves IndiGo and Akasa Air as the only carriers expected to operate initial services from the newly developed airport.

IndiGo will begin commercial operations on the opening day of June 15, becoming the first airline to operate flights from Noida International Airport. The airline is expected to play a key role in early passenger connectivity from the Jewar facility.

Akasa Air is scheduled to start operations from June 16, just a day after the airport’s opening. This addition will expand early flight options for passengers and strengthen initial connectivity from the new aviation hub in western Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Air India Express has deferred its launch plans at Jewar indefinitely, according to reports. The airline is focusing on cost management and network restructuring while maintaining its existing operations in the Delhi-NCR aviation market.

Air India Express has also withdrawn services from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, where aircraft movements have declined due to operational limits, restricted parking capacity and reduced airline schedules affecting overall flight activity at the defence-operated airport.
