WhatsApp has begun rolling out a new update designed to simplify chat management. It brings in storage controls dual account access and AI-powered tools while improving overall usability. These features will be introduced to users in phases across devices.
The update lets users free up storage without removing entire chats. They can now spot and delete large files within conversations making it easier to clear space while keeping important messages and ongoing chats intact and accessible.
Users can now remove only photos videos and other media from chats while keeping text messages unchanged. This helps save storage space without affecting important conversations making it easier to manage chats in a more flexible and efficient way.
The platform will also allow users to transfer chats between iOS and Android devices. They can move the complete chat history, including media without third party tools, making phone switching smoother while ensuring no important conversations or files are lost.
The update adds support for using two WhatsApp accounts on one iPhone. It allows users to handle personal and work chats separately offering added convenience without the need for multiple devices or logging in and out repeatedly.
To reduce confusion between two accounts, WhatsApp will display profile pictures in the bottom tab. This helps users quickly recognise which account is active, making it easier to switch between personal and work chats smoothly and without errors.
WhatsApp is also improving sticker usage by suggesting relevant stickers based on emojis typed in chats. Users can replace emojis with matching stickers in a single tap, making conversations more expressive and quicker to respond.
The app now includes AI powered photo editing tools within chats. Users can remove unwanted elements change backgrounds or apply styles using Meta AI although these features may not be available to all users initially.
The platform is rolling out Writing Help that suggests replies based on conversations. The company says these are generated while maintaining user privacy helping users respond faster without affecting personal data or chat security as the update rolls out.
