Social media platform Instagram has introduced a new profile tool that allows users to change how posts appear on their profile grid, giving them more flexibility in designing their public page layout.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced the update in a recent post, confirming that users can now reposition content on their profiles without deleting or reposting existing uploads.
As per reports, the feature comes after years of user requests, with creators and regular users seeking better control over profile aesthetics and the ability to highlight specific posts more effectively.
The new “Reorder grid” option lets users move posts freely across their profile layout. Earlier, Instagram strictly displayed posts in chronological order with newest content appearing first.
Users can now tap, drag and drop posts to rearrange their profile grid. This helps in organising content thematically, highlighting key posts, and improving overall visual presentation.
Instagram also allows users to update their profile layout multiple times. Changes do not affect original posting dates or engagement history, making the process flexible and risk-free.
The update benefits creators, artists and businesses by helping them showcase portfolios, campaigns and key content more effectively while maintaining a consistent and curated profile appearance.
With this feature, users no longer need to delete and repost content to improve profile design, as all changes can now be made directly within the grid system.
